Learning Gephi from Zero #2: Online Learning Communities

I’d had a life changing experience taking part in possibly the first ever “MOOC” (Massive Open Online Course): an “Introduction to Artificial Intelligence” course put together by two Stanford professors on their own initiative back in 2011. I’d had a life changing experience taking part in possibly the first ever “MOOC” (Massive Open Online Course): an “Introduction to Artificial Intelligence” course put together by two Stanford professors on their own initiative back in 2011. Over 100,000 people signed up to the free experimental course and it was eye-opening to be part of that huge online community spread over the course online site, youtube videos and countless reddit forums where course participants gathered to learn collectively together. Genuinely it felt like being part of a massive amorphous live collective brain.

So, when trying to learn Gephi, my first port of call was to find a Gephi MOOC. However, there didn’t seem to be one!

Some more searching online – thanks to the notorious Facebook – led me to a Gephi Facebook group which gave me my first leads…
