Visual research.
Solidarity projects
Grounded research.
Collaboration.
Interdisclinary.
Power consciousness.

Key Concepts:

Friction as in Tension, Challenge, Difference, Attraction, Interference, Conflict, Proximity, Warmth, Energy - a dynamic interaction between more than one thing, whether it be a person, an organisation, a perception, an agenda or or or...

Friction as in Variations of Fiction -  Fiction, Faction, Friction, Factions - multiple narratives and power relations between narratives - strategies and tactics in story telling.

The website domain name ending ".net" was chosen to show the network approach of Friction Films.

This is a non-commerical project which is currently low-budget and low-tech. The aim is to prioritise relationships, integrity and creativity. Also to keep connected to the side of the digital divide which most of the world occupies. According to the relationships and projects that grow, resources are gathered and shared.

Authorship:

Friction Films references diverse experiences and shared spaces created by very many people, calling on knowledge gathered from very many places.

Friction Films is a work-in-progress. Work is ongoing to make sure that recognition is given to all contributors. If you know of any people or ingredients that have been left out, please email: info@frictionfilms.net.

Friction Films was created and compiled by Christina Hotz.
